The pool beneath the falls is fantastically deep, but not large in breadth. The waters pour into caverns beneath the mountains to form a deep subterranean river called Ruith An Domir (the lost river), which spills into the Ruith Olmhor Methlas (great eastern river) 500 miles west of the falls. The Targireth Olmor (forever green giants), redwood-like evergreens in this forest, grow immensely tall with straight trunks which grow mammothly thick. Their wood is deep red in color. There are few recognizable paths, and no roads in these woods. The lay of the land varies from flat, to hilly with many creeks carving out the knolls.

The plateau is blanketed in amber colored grass, and what trees there are exist in small groves of large and very ancient trees called Oshagdanir (eternal guardian)s. These rough barked, broad girthed, hardwood trees have large, sweeping branches which provide excellent shade and delicious nuts the year round. It is a live hardwood, and its ovate, leathery leaves stay green all year. They were planted many ages ago by elves near springs or artesian wells. Large, snow white, wild horses with long silky manes and tails, and blue eyes called Belgar Cavall (snow horses), and large deer with branching ivory antlers and fawn coats with dark brown stripes called Sollewoc (great stags), roam this 1500 mile-long table of land. Prides of green-eyed, white and pale grey Arylbelmian Seres (silver-mane lion)s with thick silvery or smoke grey manes, the largest in Morendor, also inhabit the plateau. This plateau is one of the few places aside the mountain peaks which get deep snow in the winter. The Mythhaeras are horse rangers and have no city persay, but establish camps on the plateau which they move with their families every season. They have tents with light, but strong wood frames that are covered with thin, strong, rain repelling mats made of tight woven wicker. These elves are often also the guests of allied Lords, and at times stay with their peers for a period of months, or even several years. The people who live in Cliff City on the east coast where Table Top and Lion's Head meet, feed the wild horses hay and grain they grow on the plateau during the winter. The Firae Esanmeth (men of the east), and the Mythhaeras (elven horselords), who form the Northeast Alliance, are exceptional horsemen, warriors, huntsmen, wilderness survivalists, and seamen alike. They are also known for their honor, and hold their codes of ethics and fairness high.

Lion's Head is still far higher than the valleys to the west, though not as high as the mountains. A tunnel, one and a half mile long accesses Lion's Head plateau 500 miles north of the East Step. The tunnel opens in a wide, 12 foot high angular arch in the cliffside.

The tunnels gates are on the plateau side, each tunnel is a mile and a half long, the slopes' inclines navigable by horses and wagons. There is a small keep built at each gate, with a stone rampart around each gate. The tunnels access the plateau from the Methla Breon (east step), 20 miles north of the Ruith Braeon (falling river), and from Table Top 500 miles south of the Methla Breon Torlan (east step tunnel), and from Lion's Head 500 miles north of the East Step. The pentagonal tunnels are ten feet wide and twelve feet high. Each tunnel took 3 years to build with crews of one hundred men and elves. The gates are simply called Middle Gate, North Gate and South Gate, and the tunnels, Middle Tunnel, North Tunnel, and South Tunnel.
