Information

Human-like in form and size although they are very unsightly, with whiskery faces, long pointed ears, that are often misshapen, and skin that is particularly fair or dark. They can be almost emaciated in their build, slender, rotund, or obese. Hair is black or gray, and their eyes match their hair color in black, gray, or bluish shades. They can shapeshift rapidly into small forms, the size of a finch, with ragged looking swallow tail-like wings that are drab in color, or darkly transluscent. The males can also shift size quickly, but have no wings, and can only attain wings by marriage. They are more vulnerable in their small form, with exception of being able to fly quickly and to hide easily. These faeries commit themselves to the arts of mischief, and are either engaged in the seeking and making of mischief with other races, to enslaving others, or trapping victims in the faery veil of Anwynn's Underworld. They are solitary faeries, which means they live scattered, or in small family groups. They are masters of Glamour and will make themselves attractive to lure victims, and have enchanted voices as well. If they actually favor a victim, they will enslave them, or give them as a slave to a Lord of Anwynn. Female hoary faeries are known to enslave human (or other) men, and keep them as their slaves until they tire of them, and if they have a faery suitor, he may grow jealous and seek a way to get the slave out of his way, even by violent means. Faeries are very reluctant to wed, because divorce among faeries is not an option. When faeries marry, they do so for life, and they can live forever. The only way to end a marriage, is for one of the faeries to die. Infidelities almost always result in murder by the mate if the affair is discovered. If these faeries give birth to a particularly wicked or evil child (which they can sense) they will exchange it for a human, elven, (or human-like) child. Faeries are quasi-immortal, and cease aging between 16-24 years of age.
