Information

Shaamea (shah-mA) people are ageless humans from the desert of An Morendor. These people are quasi-immortal. They have auburn hair, earth brown skin, green eyes with slit pupils, and their men tend to be tall. They can see very well, and have night vision. They also have a keen sense of smell. Their noses are slightly bestial, they have long, claw-like fingernails, and elvish ears. Some believe these people were spawned by interbreeding with goblins, which is not true. They are a native of the desert, and evolved in the desert of fire. These people are proud, take pride in their occupations and everyday lives, and tend to be very self-disciplined. They almost always commit themselves with dedication to their occupations, tasks, and undertakings. Though tribal, they are very well organized, and are an intelligent race of people, with few exceptions. They even have a name for stupid people among their own; paalaa. Paalaa often take on tasks involving hard or dirty labor to make their people proud of them and value them despite their inferior intellect. These people have their own language, called Shaamaa, which Neffari also adapted as their own language through ages of trade and interaction with these people. Their kings are called Shaddii, and they are replaced by whoever can defeat them in battle, so Shaddii are extremely skilled in combat. These people ride Lombra, and consider horses far inferior as mounts. They have made an art of breeding, riding, and training Lombra. They will part with their Lombra for a high price that is well worth the cost. All are very skilled at almost every aspect of desert and wilderness survial. Though these people stop aging between 18-35 years of age, and even rarely at 16, they perish if mortally wounded. Ancient Shaamea are very well respected by their people, and ancient Shaddii are even more revered, and almost always spared when defeated in combat. Shaamea cannot produce offspring with other human races.

These people have a special kinship with lions. Mysteriously, the lions walk among them and do not harm them. Shaamea view lions as very sacred animals, and believe they are guardians of the afterlife. Lions are even among them when they have festivals or prayers, and they also follow them into battle and fight at their sides against their enemies. Some believe Shaamea evolved from lions, red lions in particular, which would explain their kinship with them, and some of their bestial traits.
