Information

Abraxas fell into Acheron to become the Guardian of Acheron's Gate, a Malshivest devil known as the Angel of Despair. He appears in the Antechamber of Acheron when anyone attempts to enter the gate of Acheron, which is accessed from the Barren Lands in the far march called Acheron's Receiving Yard, which is a vast, barren waste of arid grassland that surrounds the entry to An Morgalgoth Setis (the caverns of Acheron). The entrance to the Antechamber of Acheron's 1st Gate is little more than an open space between two towering pylons, bridged by an elaborately carved lintel of stone. Trick is, these pylons form a hexagon with each of the six thresholds looking exactly alike. If someone passes beneath a lintel between two pylons, and enters on barren ground, they find themselves in the Barren Lands, a vast outter plane of Acheron surrounding the Receiving Yard. If they pass beneath the right lintel, they enter Acheron's black, domed antechamber. The moment the Angel of Despair emerges into the antechamber, his black wings manifest. The wings deliver a powerful shock if touched, and in his hand he weilds the sword of Abraxas. His head is crowned by stag antlers when he appears, which shed when he leaves the antechamber, the antlers which adorn the walls of the great antechamber counting the invaders he has defeated, while the antlers which hang suspended from the very high ceiling count his defeats so long as he serves as the Guardian of the Gate. If Abraxas is defeated, or allows someone to pass, they enter through the First Gate into the First Level of Acheron. Abraxas cannot deny, nor defy his fate, and must serve as the Guardian of the Gate for all eternity, or until he is reborn the child of a mortal. Abraxas must sustain his soul, (Incubus) his physical body (Vampire), and his ichor (Devil) to survive. If any one of these aspects of himself perishes by starvation, only the other two aspects of him remains. His way of death is particular, and only through the dedicated practice of Arcane Lore can his way of death be discovered. One must first learn his true name in order to even begin seeking the ritual of his death, for on earth, and on Morashtar, he is known by three names; Cassavant Xavier (Casey), Cassavant Desormeaux, and Artorius Xavier.
