These large vipers have white heads and are banded in mottled grays and whites, mottled grays and browns, and mottled grays and black.  This coloration allows them to blend into their surroundings when it snows or not, amazingly well.  They are very unusual in that they can inhabit high elevations in mountainous areas, and remain active until temperatures drop below 23 degrees.  No other snake in Morashtar will be seen in the snow and not be on its way to torpor.  There is a chemical in their venom which has a 'dry ice' effect on the blood stream, causing body temperatures to gradually decline, until a cold state of hiberation occurs (at 50%-HP).  This freeze effect can eventually lead to death.  Another chemical in the snake's body, reacts with hormones, to regulate its own body temperature.  10-96 inches long.  Lifespan of up to 170 years.

Jeweled Vipers are cousins of the Dragon Python but evolved with several differences.  Jeweled Vipers have a mild, narcotic poison, and they are far more colorful than Dragon Pythons.  These vipers have green heads exactly like Dragon Pythons, a yellow throat band, and bands of orange, red, violet, blue, green, and yellow, repeating.  Their color bands go all the way around their bodies, and two of the wide verticle belly scales match the colors of the bands, but in a paler hue.  Their diet also varies.  They prey strictly on mammels and are not choosey about what kind.  The mature snakes have been known to eat goblins and humans, who hunt them for their beautiful scaled hides and delicious meat.  They lay between 12-20 eggs, which they bury beneath decaying leaves and humous soil.  The females and males take turns guarding their nests, defend them fiercely, and are dangerously aggressive while doing so.  These snakes are always aggressive if encountered.  The narcotic enzyme their fangs inject induces severe hallucinations and a lasting sleep (20 minutes per success), and does so rapidly (within 3 turns-nor. dmg, 2-crit, 1-triple crit) and hallucinations can last up to the same number in days.  2-60 feet long.  Lifespan of up to 450 years, greatest attainable size and lifespan unknown.

These slender, long vipers have black heads and their bodies are banded, undersides included, in red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet.  Though beautiful, these vipers are extremely aggressive, swift, and agile, and thereby dangerous.  Their heads are long and they have a violet, arrow shaped patch on top of their head .  Their venom is as aggressive as they are, and attacks the blood stream to break down blood cells rapidly, to cause numbing, muscle fatigue, rapid muscle degeneration, seizures, respiratory and heart failure, coma, and then death.  Rainbow Viper venom is immune to magic effects.  The only antidote is made from a plant called Inviscas, which grows by sea-shore dunes.  It has small purple flowers, with hairy stems, which sting like nettle, and velvety blue-green leaves.  A strong tea made from this plant's flowers, or small, dark blue fruit and seeds, neutralizes the venom from the blood stream.  No other neutralizer or anti-venom works.  10-72 inches long.  These vipers bear live young.  Lifespan of up to 85 years.
